Water Testing 

The Thunder Beach Association participates in the sampling of swimming water and streams every second year in conjunction with the Federation of Tiny Township Shoreline Associations (FoTTSA). Over the past 17 years, many wonderful volunteers have collected water samples from 11 specific locations around Thunder Bay on a weekly basis during July and August. The samples are then transported to the Tiny Township offices, and then Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit analyzes the contents for the presence of e.coli, an indicator of the presence of fecal pathogens. Any e. Coli reading over 200 per 100 ml. of water is deemed unacceptable.

We have decided to post the results of these tests for our beach on our website and in a weekly email to all members. The information will also be posted at The Friendly Corner Store.
