President’s Message

Hello Thunder Beachers! Despite the past few weeks of below average seasonal temperatures, there was no shortage of traffic heading up north to cottage country for the start of the Victoria long weekend. Even with the cold weather the beach has been bustling with activity; boats being launched; gardening and cleanup around the cottage; the tennis courts back in full swing; and even a few swimmers taking the plunge into the frigid waters of the Bay. All positive signs that the spirit of Thunder Beach is alive and well! In terms of beach updates, our revised website continues to delight our members and we have seen increased traffic on the site. We encourage people to keep visiting the website to keep informed and up-to-date on information, news and events in and around the beach. Don’t miss our new children’s program blog. Included in the mailed copy of this newsletter is your roster, your 2013 Activity Calendar and if you signed-up for tennis membership your tennis tags. We appreciate you wearing the tags at all times on the court.

Remember Safety This Summer
Please continue to focus on boat and road safety this summer. Remember accidents can happen so quickly. Be alert about increased car and boating traffic. Keep an eye on all level of swimmers and enforce life jackets wherever applicable. When boating ensure you have spotters for water-skiing and tubing activities. Here are a few rules we should all keep in mind:
  • All operators of powerboats must have proof of a Pleasure Craft Operator Card;
  • Minimum age for operating a personal watercraft is 16 years of age;
  • Life jackets must be worn at all times;
  • Inside the swimming buoys is a “ZERO WAKE/SLOW ZONE”. Be on the lookout for swimmers.
Please make this a fun and safe summer.
HELP US KEEP OUR TBA ASSETS IN GOOD CONDITION
Thanks to those who have already donated to our build a shed program. For those of you who missed our last newsletter, our clubhouse is bursting at the seams and we need a place to store both our old and new assets. The TBA Executive has reviewed their options and has agreed to move forward with adding storage space to our facility. This additional storage would allow us to reconfigure what we keep inside the clubhouse. To donate, simply click the button below now.

We appreciate your generous help with this special project. I look forward to another great summer and serving as your President. Kindest regards, Louise O’Connor
