The Friendly Corner Store and Restaurant

After 27 years of hard work, commitment and dedication running the Friendly Corner Store & Restaurant, the time has come for Dino and Toula Papastathis to hang up their aprons and explore the benefits of retirement.

They have enjoyed their work, but most of all they have enjoyed the personal relationships developed over the years with their valued customers. We all cherish those relationships.

Dino, Toula and our entire family would like to thank our loyal customers for allowing us to serve them and for letting us be a small part of their daily lives in Thunder Beach.

Like many of our customers, Thunder Beach has given us many happy memories. We have watched some of our customers grow from toddlers to teenagers to adults with children of their own. At times we have served four generations of families at once. We have been there when people celebrated their happiest of moments and have been there for others during times of great sorrow. We treasure all of the moments you have allowed us to be a part of.

The Friendly Corner Store & Restaurant was our home away from home many months of the year for many years. We are now handing over the aprons to another family. We would like to introduce you to Jason Baron and Doris Fusco. Jason has over 21 years of experience as a chef and business operator. Many of you may know Jason from 5-Star Take Out which is located at the Esso station in Lafontaine. Doris was also a business operator for over 35 years. She recently sold Garden Greenhouse in Stouffville where she made and sold baked goods and organic food. They are very much looking forward to serving the patrons of Thunder Beach beginning this May long weekend! We wish them the very best of luck!

On behalf of Dino, Toula and the entire family (Eve and Peter, George and Jenny, Maria and Marc with Dean and Elena) we would like to say a heartfelt thank you for your many years of patronage, support and most of all, your appreciation. We enjoyed serving you and your families.

We will say a farewell but not good-bye as we will still be around Thunder Beach enjoying it in a leisurely way.

Retirement may be an ending, but it is also a new beginning. (quote from Caroline Pulsifer)

Best Regards,

Dino, Toula and the rest of us!

The Annual Tawny Richard Memorial Volleyball Tournament

The Annual Tawny Richard Memorial Volleyball Tournament will be held on Saturday July 19, 2014. It will follow the same format as last year, where individuals are assigned to a team upon arrival. It’s a great way to mix and mingle with Thunder Beachers. We would like to thank the Butler and Bolt family for graciously agreeing to host this event again on East Beach (just a few cottages east of the Simcoe Country road right-a-way). Remember to walk (not drive) and to respect their property and the neighbouring properties. Further details to come regarding sign-up, starting times, and registration fees.

A special thanks to Tyler Richard for all of his hard work in taking the lead on organizing the tournament in past years (with big assists from Amy Saundercook and many others).

Municipal Update and FOTTSA
